This research, conducted with the aim of examining decorative arts in the celebration and mourning rituals of the Bakhtiari tribe, employed a qualitative, field-descriptive method with an art anthropology approach. In this study, semiotic, functionalist, and historical-cultural analytical frameworks were utilized to uncover the profound meanings of symbols and decorative motifs. The required data were collected through interviews with 20 members of the Bakhtiari tribe across four different cities (Dezful, Sardasht, Choghamish, and Izeh). The findings indicate that decorative arts within Bakhtiari celebration and mourning rituals reflect the tribe's everyday life, aspirations, spiritual worldview, and ancient philosophical thoughts, expressed through elements such as traditional attire, clothing adornments, local motifs, and ceremonial objects. These arts not only serve practical functions but also carry deep symbolic meanings that reflect the tribe’s relationship with nature, religious beliefs, and social structure. It was further revealed that these rituals, serving as profound manifestations of the deepest human aspirations and cultural convictions, play a fundamental role in preserving and transmitting the social identity of the Bakhtiari tribe. Emphasizing the significance of studying decorative arts as reflections of a people’s civilization and culture, this research underscores the necessity of systematic documentation and study of these rituals, particularly in conditions where the deep-rooted culture of the Bakhtiari tribe is at risk of fading.
