In the present study, we have used the "rhetorical analysis" and "media literacy" to study and analyze the audience’s critical reception of the political documentary film. Two documentary films “Iran and West”, which is the product of BBC channel and “Narrative of Kingdom Palace”, which is the product of the Islamic Republic of Iran television (IRIB), have been discussed and analyzed by deep interview method with 16 students in four categories: (1) honesty, (2) evidence and documents, (3) reliability and relevance, (4) motivational and feeling attractions.
This research emphasizes on knowing more techniques of persuasion and influencing on audience.In respect to the third generation of the audience analysis (Alasuutari, 1999), the audience is seen as the general part of any media discourse, hence how the audience would perceive and resist against the message is analyzed more precisely.
Among four disciplinary groups with 4 graduate students in the field of the communication science and media management, the political science, the history and cinema, two groups have been selected and interviewed deeply, while one group watched one film and the other group watched another film, as all groups are counted as the specialized samples. both as an example of the Get-depth interview are after watching the film.
